Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone is enjoying the start of this Christmas season! To kick off Christmas here at UMEI we will be having our Christmas Concert at 7:00pm on December 16th, here at UMEI. We invite everyone to come out and watch our Concert Choir and Junior Drama students perform and celebrate Jesus’ birth!

Our school recently participated in Operation Christmas Child. This is a program that sends shoe boxes filled with necessities and toys for children in need around the world. A few of our students really had a passion for this cause, and filled three shoe boxes for the cause. We hope to continue filling Christmas Shoe boxes every year.

The Grade 11s have just wrapped up their productions of Romeo and Juliet and Mmmbeth. Both of these Shakespearean tales were comedy spin-offs of the originals. The Grade 11s did a great job and everyone really enjoyed the plays! Well done grade 11s.

I hope to see everyone at the Christmas Concert this Friday!

Discovery Day

Good Afternoon everyone!
This past Friday we invited the grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8s, from the community to UMEI for Discovery Day. Discovery Day gives the kids a chance to see what UMEI is all about, and see the everyday things we do here. Almost all of UMEI’s students participated in the day in some way, by being group leaders, running stations, or participating in our worship band. Our new “School video” was also shown to the kids to show them what a regular day at UMEI is like. The video will be on YouTube shortly.
We hope to see you and your kids again next year at Discovery Day!

Service Project Day

Hello Everyone!
Last Thursday, November 10th, all of the students from UMEI participated in Service Project Day. Service Project Day is a way for UMEI to get out into the community and do good for others. Our students went everywhere from the Mennonite Home, to Daycare’s in the community. The students really enjoy getting out into the community.

Because UMEI believes in service, this Halloween the students went around and collected can-goods, or as we like to call it Trick-or-Eating. Our students collected over 800 cans that were donated to the local food banks. Thank you to all of the students who participated, and to everyone who donated cans!

Chili Cook-Off, and Tournaments

Hello everyone!
I’m sure everyone has anxiously awaiting the next blog post. We’ve been very busy here at UMEI recently!
To catch you up,
First of all, on October 16th we had our first ever Chili-Cook Off at Oak Street Church. For this event students got into groups and created delicious chili’s that people then voted for and great desserts. All of the money that was donated got split between the students and got put towards their trip funds, for Off Campus Education Trips in the Spring! This fundraiser was a HUGE success, thank you to everyone who came out and supported out students.

This weekend our Girls Basketball and Boys Volleyball teams are headed off on tournaments. For both teams the regular seasons are over and we are now headed into the playoffs! Lady Lightning is at 1st place going into the playoffs thanks to their win last night against Maranatha. The girls started the season at 0-4 and have been on a winning streak ever since, bringing them up to 6-4! We are wishing both of the teams luck at their tournaments and the playoffs. Please keep them in your prayers for their safe travels.

Stratford and Flying

Hello everyone!
This past Friday all of our students had a lot going on. The seniors travelled to Stratford and saw Twelfth Night. While the seniors were away, the grade 9′s went flying, canoeing, and biking at the point for Science class! The students all had a great time.
