I am a student

I thrive in a dynamic academic environment where I build my problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. I seek and use connections between academic learning and the real world through exploration and discovery. I exhibit confidence and competency in the knowledge of academic disciplines and the small class sizes allow me to reach my full potential.

I am a leader

I act as a leader from a servant perspective in both small groups and large communities. I work hard to build others up and support others in their pursuits. I lead by example by listening to others and planning and executing exciting events and fundraisers for the school.

I am exploring my faith

I develop my personal relationship with God and learn what it means to be a Christian in today’s world. I discover, define and develop my God-given gifts and learn to articulate my beliefs, values and convictions clearly. I participate in chapel and enjoy hearing so many different perspectives from teachers, visiting pastors, and my fellow classmates.

I am an artist

I develop my creativity, imagination and technical skills through participation in the music and arts programs. I build leadership skills through participating in worship band, and experience growth in my abilities through the traveling choral music program. I take advantage of opportunities in all UMEI courses to express and use my artistic talents.

I develop supportive relationships with teachers who are readily available for extra help in and out of class time. I build time management, organization and study skills from learning support seminars, and explore my post-secondary options in collaboration with staff who are invested in my future.

I am an athlete

I build leadership, team building and athletic skills through participation on teams competing in WECSSAA leagues and Christian school tournaments. I experience growth in my abilities through more play time and one-on-one coaching, and make memories and friendships through away games and tournaments.

I seek service opportunities as an expression of my faith, and participate in the Faith in Action club activities to learn about the needs of the world and how I can be a global citizen. I seek out post-secondary programs that will help me make a difference in my chosen career.

I am empowered to try new things, make mistakes, and think outside the box. I feel comfortable participating in class discussion and using my creativity and imagination. I develop my public speaking skills through chapel presentations, drama productions, and in-class seminars.

I participate in an active school community that supports, empowers, and challenges each other. I make newcomers feel welcome and go out of my way to be a friend and accept others. I promote forgiveness, understanding and reconciliation and allow others to be themselves.

I get involved, take risks, and ask lots of questions. I take opportunities to be well rounded to see what fits best for me. I experience success and failure, good days and bad days, all while supported by caring staff and a welcoming, friendly atmosphere that allows me to be myself.
