Confession of Faith – Article Summary Statement

As a Mennonite secondary school with supporting churches under Mennonite Church Canada, UMEI follows the Mennonite Confession of Faith.

Mennonite Schools Council

UMEI is a member school of Mennonite Schools Council (MSC), a network of Mennonite early childhood through grade twelve schools, is comprised of over thirty member schools. The schools share a commitment to value-added education that promotes excellence and teaches from a Christ-centered foundation. Whether in the classroom, on an athletic field, out in the community, or in the lunch room the schools are instilling Christ’s way of peace, reconciliation and service.

Spiritual Life at UMEI

UMEI exists, first and foremost, as a space where our students are led and encouraged to grow in their knowledge and belief of the Christian faith. We are both honoured and humbled to take part in educating our students about the life of Jesus Christ, the salvation we are promised and our calling as Christians. Together with our student’s parents, pastors and church families, we strive to feed their faith so they might see Christ in every aspect of their lives. At UMEI, spiritual life is nurtured in several ways:

In Class, students have the opportunity to meet God through Religious Studies, a required course in all four grades. In addition, each class is taught by a Christian educator through a Christian perspective; where God is never out of the equation.

Daily Chapels are a time every day for the spiritual growth of our students. A different scripture is chosen each year as the theme verse. The verse for 2019-2020 is Colossians 3:12-14.

Outreach to the community and to local churches make our students “doers of the Word”. To encourage this mission, we hold two service project days each year. We also have a “Faith in Action” club, which focuses on a variety of issues and how we as Christians should respond.

Music at UMEI is another way for our students to express their love for Christ and worship him. Weekly music chapels, Worship Band and Concert Choir are all ways students can experience God in their daily lives.
