The choice to attend UMEI Christian High School includes a financial investment in the education of your child. UMEI is a nonprofit organization and committed to making our educational programming available to all families who desire a UMEI Christian education.
HOW DO I OFFSET TUITION?
- Shop UMEI – fundraise for tuition through our gift card program! Get started here
- Scholarships – UMEI offers entrance scholarships, as well as annual scholarships for returning students
- Sibling Discount – The first sibling receives a 15% discount, and subsequent siblings receive a 30% discount
- Financial Assistance – Available to families demonstrating financial need through a secure, third-party organization (see below)
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
UMEI uses FAST (Financial Assistance for School Tuition), an organization that assists private schools in establishing accurate financial profiles for their current and prospective families. Information is gathered online with dignity and confidentiality.
FAST applications for the 2025-2026 school year open on February 1, 2025 and will close on May 1, 2025. Financial assistance will be based on a first come, first served basis until the current year’s Foundation Fund is exhausted.
There is a $53 USD application fee payable by credit card once all sections have been completed.

Entrance Scholarships for New Students
UMEI Christian High School has 8 scholarships and 2 bursaries established by donors who believe in the mission of the school and the students it graduates. Scholarships are chosen based on the alignment of the school’s mission of faith-infused, whole-person education through learning, service, and leadership, while bursaries also take financial need into consideration.
Each student can apply for multiple scholarships. Applications can be submitted online at umei.ca during the application period.
Applications are accepted between January 1 and April 30.

Scholarships and Bursaries for Returning Students
UMEI Christian High Schools awards over $15,000 in scholarships and bursaries returning students every year who have shown strong work ethic, servant leadership, and a sense of community. These awards are presented at graduation each year.
Here are a few of the unique scholarships and bursaries we award our returning and graduating students.
DEAN TIESSEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This award, given in memory of Dean Tiessen, is awarded to a student whose inquisitive nature is exemplified by a love of learning in all aspects of school and life. This award is presented to a deserving student who has a strong work ethic, who has a passion for learning and who goes the extra mile to get answers.
MENNONITE FOUNDATION OF CANADA, SPIRIT OF GENEROSITY AWARD
This award seeks to foster a spirit of generosity in students. This person must demonstrate a personal spirit of generosity in identifiable practical ways. This award is shared equally between the student and a charity of his/her choice.
ESSEX ANIMAL HOSPITAL AWARD FOR SCIENCE
This award, offered by the Essex Animal Hospital, recognizes passion for the study of the branches of science at UMEI: biology, physics, and chemistry. The winning candidate will be continuing his/her studies in science at the university/college level.
JOHN KLASSEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This award is given in memory of John Klassen, a graduate of 1973. UMEI was a large part of John’s life and he remained a strong supporter of the school throughout his lifetime. This award is given to a current Grade 9-11 student who demonstrates a sense of UMEI community; a team player who is respectful of others and wants to lend a helping hand wherever possible.
