Extracurricular activities and involvement is a pillar of the UMEI experience. All students are encouraged to get involved in ways that are meaningful to them, and build on their gifts and talents. UMEI staff model servant leadership, which seeks to serve others following the example of Jesus.
Student Parliament
- Serve the UMEI student body by planning monthly parties for the whole school, spirit days and events, and fundraisers for student trips
- Student grow in leadership, planning, organization, collaboration, initiative, confidence, problem solving, communication
- Elected positions available in each grade
Yearbook Committee
- Create the annual yearbook, Spectrum, for the student body
- Take photos, organize pages, procure sponsorships
- Students grow in leadership, organization, time management, creativity, communication
- Positions available in each grade, with overall leadership from a Grade 12 student
Faith in Action
- Learn about social justice issues affecting our local and global communities, and how we as Christians can respond faithfully with love and compassion
- Engage in service opportunities and create fundraising/awareness campaigns for local food banks, disaster relief, etc.
- Students grow in leadership, compassion, discipleship, servant mindset, awareness, global citizenship
- Available to all grades
Mental Wellness Club
- Learn about different aspects of mental health and how it affects students and the community
- Raise awareness for mental health initiatives
- Participate in fundraising events for the CMHA and the student body (e.g. exam stress relief bags)
- Students grow in communication, empathy, interpersonal skills, problem solving, leadership, responsibility, collaboration
- Available to all grades
Art Club
- A creative outlet for students with an opportunity to work independently and collaboratively
- Students grow in artistic skills, artistic expression, creativity, independence, collaboration
- Available to all grades
Worship Band
- Help choose, prepare and lead songs for weekly music chapels, together with the music director
- Students grow in leadership, teamwork, confidence, time management, musicality, creativity, adaptability
- Available to all grades
Agriculture Club
- Explore careers, issues and opportunities in agriculture locally and nationally
- Travel to farm shows, local greenhouses, farms, and other industry partners
- Students grow in knowledge, understanding and passion toward agriculture
- Available to all grades
