Co-Operative Education
UMEI offers expanded programs to help meet the needs and interests of individual students. Our co-op program allows students to customize their high school experience and explore a different learning style, while making valuable connections in the community. Co-op allows students to take what they learned in the classroom and expand their knowledge through related work experience, or to experience hands-on learning in an area of interest not provided by UMEI classrooms. Co-op is a Ministry-approved program that allows students to earn secondary school credits while completing a work placement.
Benefits of Co-Op
- Experience hands-on learning and test-drive career options
- Build relationships in the community
- Develop essential skills and habits required in the workplace
- Explore interests and skills outside of what is offered in UMEI classrooms
- Gain valuable work experience to build your resume
Co-Op Opportunities
Co-operative Education at UMEI gives students an opportunity to test skills learned in the classroom and to expand their knowledge through related work experience. This experience provides students with a chance to practice the latest theories and approaches in their particular discipline.
